When I heard I was going to travel to Barcelona, I decided to treat myself to something nice over there. I searched in Google Maps for the Acne store, the Céline store and the Gucci store. Acne and Céline had no locations in Barcelona, so my only existing option was Gucci (“poor me”). I was already thinking of getting either this belt or these loafers. But since I wanted to be 100% sure of my splurge, I searched for a multibrand boutique that sold Acne and Céline too. I found one called Santa Eulalia and starred it on my map. Once in Barna, I took a cab from my hotel to Passeig de Gràcia where Santa Eulalia is located, and to my surprise there was a Céline store right next door to it! I thought maybe it was still under construction, but as I walked closer and closer, it became clear that the store was very much open. A security guard welcomed me at the door. I asked him when the boutique had opened. “Yesterday”, he said. I couldn’t believe my luck! Clearly, I took it as a sign and thought it must mean I had to buy something there. Obviously. So, after looking around I ended up in the shoe department. Obviously. These ballerina flats, in all of their simple and purist glory where just yelling out my name. I tried them on and felt like I was walking on the chicest of French clouds; I had to get them. They had to be mine! As an admirer of Phoebe Philo—her talent, her work and what she has done for the modern woman with her design philosophy—I felt so proud to own something Céline through the fruits of my labor. I know you guys can relate.
So here they are, making their first of many appearances on A Constellation.
Thanks for reading.
