I must confess, sometimes I seek locations and backgrounds for my photos that might look like cities elsewhere: New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris… But lately –at least for the better part of last year and most of the current year– I’m embracing the tropical landscape I call home. Full of contrasts: big, shiny (and mostly ugly) new skyscrapers, palm trees, shanty houses, traffic, trash, and then beautiful colonial architecture and midcentury modern jewels I pray will not get sold to the highest bidder just to be demolished to make way for some appalling edification. This building, called “Las Brisas” or The Breezes, is one of my favorites around my neighborhood. I love the shadow the eave in the driveway casts on the ground. I love the iron sign! I thought it would make the perfect background for this white lace top and distressed jeans outfit, don’t you?
